But in my experience of traveling around Alberta in my camper, I found that there’s much more to see and do here beyond just Banff. If you spend more time in the province to explore the badlands, farmlands, wildlife, scenic drives, lakes, and small towns, you can learn a lot about Canadian culture while making memories you’ll never forget.

This A-frame cabin offers breathtaking views of the mountains with lots of rustic character and modern features. It sleeps eight people and has four bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms. There’s a cedar barrel sauna that guests can use to enhance the cabin experience. You’ll find ample parking on the property, but should bring a 4WD vehicle in the winter. There is a convenience store in the area, and you can purchase firewood at the general store. Some fun things to do in the area include playing golf, visiting the Miners Café, and taking a helicopter tour to see the glacier lakes and Rocky Mountains.
Coal Cabin, Nordegg
Nordegg, Alberta has numerous cabins for rent, including this one with three bedrooms and 1.5 bathrooms. Up to seven people can stay here and enjoy being on a beautiful, one-acre parcel of land. The home has vaulted ceilings, mountain-facing windows, a south-facing deck, and a fire pit area. Guests love the spacious recreation room with a foosball table and TV viewing area. You can stay here during any season of the year and experience some of the best boating, fishing, and ATVing in the area.

It’s a really fun cabin for kids because of the loft and attic-style stairs inside.

For a unique stay in Alberta, consider this cabin rental in converted grain bins. It is in a quiet and secluded space for your glamping trip. Offering 375 square feet, the Airbnb is surrounded by trees and on a working farm with horses, cows, and hay production. You can roast s’mores around the fire pit, sip wine while sitting in the comfy Adirondack chairs on the deck, or hang out indoors under the beautiful domed ceiling. Another highly recommended Alberta cabin is this tiny home that is 14 feet by 16 feet. It has a queen-size bed and two bunks in the loft. You’ll also have an alcove kitchen, dining patio, and private bathhouse. The hot tub is available year-round and is a shared space with the host’s family. There is no running water in the cabin, but you will have countertop basins for washing and containers of clean water provided. From here, it is 10 minutes to Red Deer and Sylvan Lake.
Private Log Cabin Rental, Drayton Valley
For up to four people, there’s the option of renting this two-bedroom, one-bathroom cabin an hour west of Edmonton. It has a wood-fired hot tub, wood stove, swimming pond, kayaks, and a canoe. There is also an outdoor fire pit, games, and walking trails that are open year-round for hiking, snowshoeing, and ice skating. This is a pet-friendly Vrbo rental when you pay a $25 fee per dog.
Picturesque Cabin on Lake, Clairmont
You can stay in this tiny home cabin with up to three other people and be on a rural acreage near Grande Prairie. With views of Bear Lake, this rental is a great place to relax, kayak on the lake, watch the birds, and pet the farm animals. Four people can stay here because there is a queen-size bed and sofa bed in the living area. You can wander around the entire acreage, explore the lake, and use the kayaks. However, be aware that the cabin does not have plumbing or running water. You’ll need to use the private outhouse behind the cabin, which is exclusively for guests and has a tap with drinkable water from the well.
Lovely Private Cabin Located in the Country, Halkirk
Offering three bedrooms and two bathrooms, this private cabin is a highly rated Vrbo property and has a full kitchen too. There’s a jet tub for soaking, a love seat for reading or watching a DVD, and hiking in the vicinity. The cabin is 10 minutes from Halkirk and 25 minutes from Castor. If you come in the winter, it’s only about 20 minutes to the Alliance Ski Hill. The home is equipped to accommodate up to 10 people because there are queen-size beds in the horse room and red room, plus the loft has a king-size bed, double futon, and two twin beds.
100+ Year Old Rustic Log Cabin Near Ghost Lake, Rocky View County
Here’s a studio-style cabin that’s over 100 years old and a romantic place for couples. It’s at the base of the Rocky Mountains and has a double bed and a double futon. The cabin also offers a fireplace, a bathroom inside the cabin, and a washer and dryer in the store nearby. This cabin is located at the Ghost Station Campground and just down the road from Ghost Lake. There’s a hiking trail to Spencer’s Creek behind the cabin, which was originally built as a fur trading post site.
