Civil War Era Cabin - Long Prairie
This nearly 150-year-old cabin was erected by homesteader James Maynard shortly after the Civil War. The current owners moved it to a meadow at the edge of their wooded property and restored it by adding modern amenities while keeping within its historic character. It includes a cozy wood stove, kerosene lanterns, a fully functional kitchen with an old-fashioned kerosene stove and period furnishings. Authentic antique beds furnished with feather pillows and handmade quilts are included too. Look forward to roasting marshmallows and chats around the fire, grilling on the barbecue and exploring the adjacent woods.
Mökki Dwelling by the Dock - Grand Marais
A Scandinavian Dovetail cabin, Mokki is located 20 minutes north of Grand Marais in Hovland close to the Canadian border and Lake Superior. Designed by a local carpenter and North House Folk School instructor, it’s a work of art providing the perfect romantic retreat immersed in nature, complete with a wood-fired sauna with water from the rain barrels or melted snow for bathing.
